I wanted to send an update this morning to thank every one of you who has pledged to this project — you are all wonderful!!! (You’ve not only helped with your financial contributions, but with your tremendous words of support and encouragement.) I am just blown-away by the shared passion we have for Neil’s marvelous story, and by the fact that you all want to see it just as much as I want to make it!!!
I know many of you have been following along, getting excited by seeing the numbers climb towards our goal, and sometimes feeling anxious when nothing seems to change for awhile — this is normal. My good friend and trusted advisor, Nathaniel (who has worked on several Kickstarter projects, including his latest: ‘The Elders’ www.theeldersfilm.com) has reassured me that it is very common for projects to start out with high interest levels and go on to finish their funding period successfully … but in between, there usually is a “trough,” a period when things tend to stagnate a little.
‘The Price’ has enjoyed an incredible amount of momentum: as of this writing, we have already achieved 41% of our goal! But over the last few days, things have slowed down… and to get them moving again, I have a favor to ask:
Find 1 more person to help pledge their support. If each one of you would do that, we could double our progress and give ‘The Price’ the renewed momentum needed to get across that finish line!!! (Remember that all Kickstarter projects are ‘all-or-nothing’ proposals: unless the entire goal is raised, no money changes hands.)
Many of you have already asked how they can help spread the word, so we’ve made some basic promotional materials available on www.theprice-movie.com. Just look under the new tab marked “downloads” and you’ll find a flyer you can print & distribute, some cool desktop wall papers (coming soon), and an ‘Electronic Press Kit’ (EPK). This last item contains an official press release and images that can be sent to your favorite website or posted on a blog.
(For example, I’m a big fan of www.aintitcoolnews.com, so I sent ‘Head Geek’ Harry Knowles a letter and some exclusive conceptual art to try and entice him to post something about ‘The Price.’ So far no luck … but maybe if a few of you add your voices as well, he might! You can contact him at: harry@aintitcool.com)
There are more interviews coming out (including one with Wired.com’s Geek Dad tomorrow and hopefully another with MTV news as well), but the more eyes we can get on this project, the better! Anything and everything you can do will help — like this terrific blog post from Ed White (which was retweeted by Neil himself!) http://post.ly/1C7xX
Just 1 more person to pledge! If we can all get just 1 more, we’ll get this project moving fast enough to achieve our goal before the Dec. 1st deadline!!! My deepest thanks to everyone for believing and for all of your positive energy!!!
